Looking for one of Louisiana's most memorable Independence Day celebrations? Make plans to spend Saturday, July 4, 2026, in New Roads, where patriotic traditions, live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and a spectacular fireworks show over False River come together for an unforgettable holiday experience.
The City of New Roads invites residents and visitors from across Louisiana to celebrate America's birthday along the scenic shores of False River. From decorated boats and golf carts to live music and fireworks, the annual Fourth of July celebration offers something for all ages.
A Louisiana Fourth of July Tradition
The day begins with the popular Boat Parade at 4:00 p.m., as participants decorate their vessels and cruise along False River in a festive display of patriotism. This year's theme, "Celebrating America 250," recognizes the nation's upcoming 250th anniversary and encourages participants to showcase their American pride. Veterans are especially encouraged to participate and be honored throughout the celebration.
Activities continue on Morrison Parkway from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., where families and friends can gather to enjoy food, fellowship, and live entertainment along the waterfront.
Live Music, Community Spirit, and Family Fun
Nothing says summer on False River quite like live music. Attendees will enjoy performances at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., creating the perfect soundtrack for an evening of celebration.
The community favorite Golf Cart Parade rolls out at 6:30 p.m., featuring creatively decorated entries that embrace the spirit of Independence Day and the "Celebrating America 250" theme. The parade showcases the creativity, pride, and community spirit that make New Roads such a special place to visit and call home. All veterans are invited to attend and join in the parade.
Fireworks Over False River
As the sun sets, thousands will gather along the river to witness the highlight of the evening—a spectacular fireworks display over False River beginning at 9:00 p.m.
The reflection of fireworks across the water creates one of the most beautiful Fourth of July experiences in Louisiana and draws visitors from throughout the region each year.
