Updated: Jan 27

When a community unites to celebrate resilience, hope, and survival, something truly special occurs. This year, the Greater Pointe Coupee Chamber of Commerce member, Pointe Coupee Homebound Health & Hospice, is thrilled to announce the

Janell LaCombe Cancer Fund 30th Annual Cancer Survivors Luncheon, focused on childhood cancer awareness and honoring the brave young survivors. This event promises an array of inspiring stories, delicious food, and a powerful sense of community that reinforces our local ties.

A Legacy of Support

The Janell LaCombe Cancer Fund was created to honor the legacy of an inspiring individual who significantly impacted the lives of many battling cancer. Over the past three decades, the fund has provided vital resources and support to cancer survivors in Pointe Coupee Parish. The Janell Lacombe Cancer Fund helps reduce the financial burden that comes with the diagnosis of any type of cancer. This year, the luncheon aims to not only continue this important work but also raise awareness about childhood cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, about 15,700 children in the United States are diagnosed with cancer each year, highlighting the urgent need for support and awareness.

Event Highlights

Inspiring Speakers

An exciting feature of the luncheon is the lineup of speakers, who will share their moving stories of strength and resilience. These personal accounts highlight the challenges they faced and the importance of community support in their journeys. Their courage offers hope and motivates all of us to show our support.

Delicious Cuisine

What’s an event without great food? The dishes at the luncheon will reflect the care and warmth of our community. Last year's luncheon saw over 300 attendees enjoy a delightful meal—which contributed to an unforgettable atmosphere of togetherness. Southern Chicks Cafe & Daiquiris, a beloved local eatery known for its Southern-style food, is proudly providing the meal for the Cancer Survivors Luncheon, ensuring attendees enjoy a warm and hearty meal. Specializing in favorites like fried chicken, country sides, and homemade desserts, Southern Chicks Cafe is dedicated to serving the community with delicious food and Southern hospitality.

Community Involvement

The success of the Cancer Survivors Luncheon relies heavily on community participation. Local businesses, organizations, and individuals are encouraged to contribute through sponsorships, volunteering, and attendance. The combined efforts can create an unforgettable experience while raising essential funds.

Fundraising Goals

This year, we have set ambitious fundraising goals to address the growing need for resources dedicated to cancer. Contributions from the luncheon will go towards programs that provide assistance to patients and their families.

A Call to Action

The Greater Pointe Coupee Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to engage in this meaningful cause. Your involvement—whether through donations, participating in the event, or spreading the word—can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by childhood cancer. By joining together, we can build a supportive environment for these courageous young survivors.

The Importance of Awareness

While cancer can affect anyone, childhood cancer deserves special attention due to its lasting impact on young lives. Promoting awareness and providing resources can help ensure that survivorship is not just about overcoming the illness, but about thriving afterward. By attending the Cancer Survivors Luncheon, you contribute to the vital conversations surrounding childhood cancer, making sure these young warriors receive the recognition and support they need.
