Imagine Main Street: Shaping the Future of Downtown New Roads

Exciting things are happening in New Roads! The City of New Roads Main Street Program is inviting residents, business owners, and community members to help imagine what the future of Main Street could be. On Monday, October 13, 2025, everyone is encouraged to participate in the Imagine Main Street Workshop — a day dedicated to creativity, collaboration, and community pride.

Two sessions will be held at The Poydras Center, 500 Main Street to make it easy for everyone to take part:

• 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM

• 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM

  
  

This interactive workshop will bring together people who care about the heart of our city — its downtown. Participants will share ideas, discuss priorities, and help shape a shared vision for the future of New Roads Main Street. From preserving historic charm to supporting local businesses and enhancing public spaces, this event is about building a downtown that reflects the spirit of the community.

In addition to the workshop, chalkboards will be placed around town in the days leading up to the event, inviting everyone to jot down their thoughts and ideas for Main Street. Whether it’s a simple wish, a creative suggestion, or a big dream, every comment will help guide the vision for a more vibrant and connected downtown.

“Main Street is the heart of New Roads,” city leaders said. “It tells our story, connects our people, and drives our local economy. We want everyone to feel included in shaping its future.”

Community input from both the workshop and the chalkboard project will help define long-term goals and strategies for revitalizing Main Street in ways that celebrate New Roads’ history while preparing for its bright future.
