National Safety Council offers Our Driving Concern - Employer Transportation Safety Program to help states include employers and employees in traffic safety education and outreach.
In 2024, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, preliminary research indicates that over 39,000 people died on U.S. roads, with 753 being from Louisiana and over $2.7 million was spent on associated medical and property damage costs. On a national level, $417 billion was spent on recovery efforts and this includes items that impact all employers(wage losses and productivity losses, medical expenses, property damage, etc.). According to US Bureau of Labor statistics, in 2023, 36.8% of all fatalities on the job are transportation-related, making it the #1 cause for deaths in the workplace. Traffic crashes and fatalities on-and off-the-job are costly to employers, yet they are preventable.
We offer a wide range of impairment presentations that are both informative and engaging. These sessions can be tailored by length, audience and industry specific needs. Whether you need a quick overview or a deep dive, we’ll shape the presentation to fit your goals. Our presentations address the concerns, dangers and the consequences of impaired driving and how impairment intersects with other potential bad decisions behind the wheel. We can do thisin-person or virtually.
Among our various FREE resources are two half-day trainings. The first is called Workplace Impairment Training (WIT) which aims to raise awareness and address driver behaviors as it relates to the various forms of impairment: illegal drugs, alcohol, over the counter drugs, cannabis, mental stress and fatigue, all factors that cause preventable incidents and crashes.
Our second is called Our Driving Concern (ODC). This one will equip participants with
knowledge to help reduce crash-related incidents, while keeping their workforce safe and
productive. Both trainings are designed to help employers and employees understand the basics of traffic safety and help prevent costly crashes.
These FREE resources are a wonderful tool for HR professionals, safety professionals,
supervisors, risk managers and all employees. Our team can provide:
✓ Presentations Virtually or in-person; created to fit your company’s needs
✓ Webinars from 15 minutes to an hour in length; created to fit your company’s needs
✓ Website content with new resources added continuously
✓ Monthly newsletters are created and distributed sharing pertinent information related to Impaired Driving
✓ Coaching tools, posters and more about various traffic safety topics
✓ Safety talk resources digital and print resources available
